When I came to Insight I was a broken man. Even though I worked for a major corporation for the last 29 years and made a great deal of money, I was broke and homeless.

This was not my first treatment center but as always I hoped it would be my last. As much as I wanted to stay clean, I was just unable to get more than three months at a time. I felt embarrassed each time I had to check into another treatment center. It was different at Insight. I was made to feel welcome. I was not made to feel like a failure due to my many previous treatment stays. My therapist focused on what I had been doing right and helped me to identify the reason I was unable to maintain sobriety for any length of time.

In all my previous treatments, my mental health issues were never addressed. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and placed on the proper medication. What a difference! Insight's approach to recovery is to treat the whole person not just their addiction to substances. At the other centers they would mention 'dual diagnosis' but never get into any details. At Insight they had groups and lectures that explained what it was and how to work a recovery program that took both the substance abuse and mental health issues into account. For me this was valuable information. I learned I was not 'crazy' or a 'failure' I just had more to deal with than some other addicts.

It has been over a year now since I have used crack cocaine or any other substance. I have my life back. I have a home for the first time in 12 years. I want to thank you for giving me another chance to be somebody, clean and sober. If you want to be treated with dignity and respect, I suggest that Insight would be the place to break the chains of addiction.
